The Maiden Stakes
The Maiden Stakes returned with a bang this week! Everyone who’s anyone is hitting the track with their newly bred racehorses, competing in arguably ZED’s most iconic tournament. Here’s a reminder of the rules - there’s still time to get involved and qualify!
We also announced a little surprise for Valentine’s Day - bonus skin prizes!
❤️ Love Skin - awarded to the winners of each class and distance funnel (18 total).
💔 Broken Heart Skin - awarded to the first racehorse outside of the qualification spots of each class and distance funnel (18 total).
All the more reason to get out there and race your new racehorses!
Zab Judah & Smiley: The Champ is Here!
Our very own Smiley and 6x World Champion Boxer Zab Judah ran an exciting promotion this week for stable owners participating in the Maiden Stakes!
Newly bred Super Judah hit the track for the first time, and those who took 1st place in its first 20 races will receive a personalised autographed photo from Zab Judah himself!

Paddock to Podium
ZED RUN doesn't dole out advice on buying racehorses, but we love hearing from the community. Check out Netti's new YouTube series, "Paddock to Podium" (aptly named by @racingglue) where he shares his weekly sales picks and his reasoning behind them. Want a different perspective? ZED RUN Origin Story:
It all started with the drops. April 2021 I snagged my OG Szabo mare Airy Fairy and in the subsequent Tera Drop was able to load up on Finney and Buterin gens.
In that drop we managed to unbox Steel Fire and Flame Wreath and traded for Scrutinise. All three have been foundational breeders for our stable ever since.
Shortly after I bought MOPAR (for his lovely powder blue coat!) and Bananarama (best racehorse ever, sold for gainz), both lightly raced, and ran them up to C1 winners and was hooked. They turned out to be a couple of the best racers in the game at the time and are still pulling C1 dubs today.
At the start, some metaverse friends and I formed a low key syndicate of stables known only as the TSGV and we continue to have fun racing, breeding and strategising to this day. Their support has been instrumental to my limited success in this game.
Favourite part of ZED RUN?
While racing horsies is fun, I’ll always be a digital racehorse breeder at heart. It’s what makes the game sticky for me and keeps me coming back.
Did you know back in the day you could breed a mare twice per cycle and a stud seven times? It’s true, and even better, a racehorse could breed immediately after being named. Great were the days I could go on an absolute bender breeding eight generations of racehorses in one sitting, then load up on griffins and have myself a time. Today it’s more strategic and addictive in an entirely different way.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to join ZED RUN?
For the vast majority of zedders, breeding and C1 racing are absolute money pits. Fun money pits, but still money pits. You don’t have to play there and you definitely shouldn’t start there. Loads of stables are looking to lend good racehorses for nothing at all (Twitter, discord) and literally thousands of racehorses are available on Hawku for $20 or less (see the Stats tab). Get your feet wet in the lower classes and wait patiently on your big purchases.
Networking and making friends is KEY! If you do get the itch to breed, reach out to myself or another stable who’s been around for a while to point you in the right direction. We may even have mares or studs you can use free or at a discount.
Most importantly, after grinding XP of course, HAVE FUN. ZED RUN is best experienced as a game, not a way to eek out a living.
