The transition formula is designed to reflect the contributions and activities of stable owners within the ZED RUN ecosystem. It has been meticulously calculated from multiple perspectives to deliver a balanced and fair reward system for stable owners, based on current ownership and continued engagement.

The rewards that will be allocated at the launch of ZEDx will be a combination of:

  • In-game items to get you started in ZEDx, and;
  • $ZED Token.

Throughout the design process, we have been mindful of executing rewards in a way that acknowledges our community and just as importantly, sets up ZEDx for success.

The Transition Formula - How It Works

The allocation of rewards is based on a carefully crafted points system (see diagram below), that takes into account both ownership and engagement metrics. This ensures that racehorse owners and active stables who continue racing and breeding are rewarded as fairly as possible.

Individual wallets are used to determine these rewards. What this means is that if you have multiple wallets to play ZED RUN, they will be treated uniquely (i.e. you are not penalised in any way for having multiple wallets or accounts).

How We Have Weighted Ownership vs Engagement

Ownership and engagement will be measured to ensure the distribution of rewards acknowledges our long-time racehorse owners and their subsequent engagement in the ZED RUN ecosystem.

There are bonuses added for Z1s, Super Breeds and Super Coats within the formula to recognise collectors, and overall Genesis racehorses will be weighted more heavily than other breeds. Plus, traits such as Bloodline and Coat Colour Rarity have been factored in for all racehorses. Engagement activities from June 26, 2024, such as participating in paid races, winning tournament races and breeding are additionally rewarded points. Finally, wallets will receive a multiplier on their collector points (NFTs) based on their $ZED Token holdings.

Will Stables That Have Purchased Skins and Passes Be Rewarded?

While Skins won’t carry over into ZEDx, they have been factored into the collector points determination for transition rewards. Whether or not Passes falls under the definition “engagement” was considered, but found that the overwhelming majority of customer spend fell outside of these purchases. Those who bought passes did so to participate in exclusive racing events with juiced prizes and prize pools, so they are not included in the formula.

What Are The Rewards?

Stable owners on the leaderboard will receive a rewards chest containing a mix of the following depending on their standings:

  • Seasonal allocations of racing pool racehorses and/or breeding horses to help you get started in ZEDx
  • Season 1 $ZED Token for breeding
  • Additional Seasonal allocations of stable-locked $ZED Token

The amount and type of rewards received will be calculated and distributed using a tier system (see below) based on your legacy leaderboard position.

What Are Racing Pool Racehorses?

If you receive one or more racing pool racehorse(s) in your rewards chest, it will come with an internal $ZED Token balance and be automatically included in the starting racing pool of 4320 for Season 1. These racehorses are ready to compete for per race prize pools (in $ZED Token). Prize pools in each race are created from contributions of internal racehorse balances and any other potential bonuses.

On completion of each race within a round, you have the option to retire your racehorse from the racing pool. By retiring a racehorse, you can extract and withdraw the $ZED Token balance to use externally or within ZEDx. Retired racehorses also can be used for breeding.

How Will Season 1 $ZED Token Be Distributed?

Initially, to maintain the horse population in the ZEDx ecosystem, $ZED Token will be issued for use over multiple Seasons. For Season 1, these $ZED Tokens can only be used to bid on breeding auctions and are not tradeable.

How Long is a Season?

Each season will typically last two (2) months.

Are The Rewards Chests NFTs?

Yes. When minted and claimed by stable owners, the reward chests will be tradeable NFTs. The rewards within each chest will be released across several Racing Seasons. If you choose to trade your rewards chest halfway through a season, the remaining rewards for additional seasons in the chest will transfer to the new owner if it is sold.

How Much $ZED Token Is Being Allocated to the Transition Rewards?

Twenty percent (20%) of the total $ZED Token supply has been allocated to reward loyal ZED RUN players during the transition to ZEDx.

Specifically, at the start of Season 1 and at the launch of ZEDx, 40 million $ZED Tokens (i.e. 4% of the total token supply) will go to Racing Pool horses, and 60 million $ZED Tokens (i.e. 6% of the total token supply) will be issued for breeding.

In simple terms, the initial racehorses in the Racing Pool will be equipped with 40 million $ZED Token. Stable owners can decide whether or not to retire their racehorse during the season, paying them out the $ZED token balance. Throughout the Season there will be additional rewards for racehorses and their owners, allowing the best racehorses to significantly increase their $ZED balance.

The 60 million $ZED Token has been allocated for spend in breeding auctions. Below is a representation of how $ZED Tokens will be distributed over each Season.

The remaining 100 million $ZED Tokens (i.e. 10% of the total token supply) will be allocated throughout Season 2 to Season 6. This $ZED Token also forms part of your rewards allocation.

Why Is My Allocation of $ZED Token Locked?

This strategy is crucial to ensure the ecosystem gets off to a strong start, promoting long term sustainability and attracting new users to the platform. It also creates demand for racehorses and more breeding opportunities. If you want to extract your tokens, you have several options once raced: you can retire your horse, breed a horse or alternatively, sell your rewards chest!

Remember, you can sell your rewards chest at any time, even if you have extracted some of the rewards, the remaining rewards will transfer to the new owner upon sale.

So, How Are My Rewards Chest Calculated?

Rewards will be tiered based on your position on the ZEDx Legacy Leaderboard (see table below). You will also receive seasonal allocations of stable-locked $ZED Token. The Total $ZED Token rewards outlined in the table below are the amount per Rewards Chest, for example, each stable that reaches the Champion Tier, will receive 1,388,888.89 $ZED Token in their chest.

How Are The Potential Rewards Tracked?

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility to claim will be based on the final snapshot data. This final leaderboard update will determine the positions where each player will be allocated rewards. Players that have held racehorses and accumulated $ZED Token will receive points towards their collector score, with additional points being earned through ZED RUN engagement leading up to the final snapshot (beginning from June 26, 2024).

Scoring Thesis

The scoring system is designed to reward both engagement and ownership. Points are allocated based on horses held, in-game actions, and $ZED Token holdings. This balanced approach ensures that both active participants and long-time horse owners receive rewards.

Legacy Leaderboard

A global leaderboard has been created, ranking stables based on their points. This leaderboard determines the distribution of rewards, with higher-ranking users receiving more significant rewards.

Next Steps

To provide clarity, we recommend you head to the Legacy Leaderboard and find your stable. Then hit the ZED Discord, ZEDx discussion channel where we will be available to answer any immediate questions. This channel will be monitored for questions and comments responded to.

Join our Head of Product, Nick Ciesinski on X Spaces on August 5 at 6 PM ET, where he will endeavour to answer your questions. Submit questions in advance to the Discord ZEDx discussion channel. Nick will also take some questions live during the event.

Finally, we understand this is a significant change, and are committed to addressing your concerns. Your feedback is vital to ensure your transition to ZEDx is as smooth as possible.
