TL;DR
Engagement vs. Ownership Weighting
- The legacy leaderboard aims to provide all ZED RUN players a starting point in ZEDx, based on a mix of ownership and engagement.
- Engagement tracking started on June 26, aligning with the announcement of ZEDx.
- The leaderboard is not intended to be an additional lever to boost engagement metrics or force players into playing.
- No historical engagement points will be contributed due to the array of different product landscapes over the years, differences in gameplay and imbalances created. Engagement points are meant to be built up over time and not let players quickly scale the leaderboard.
- Our Live Ops team will continue to provide fun reasons to play ZED RUN, including rewards from the Treasury.
- We aim to involve both current and former players to achieve our goals for active players in ZEDx.
- Another reason why we weighted ownership so heavily and breeding even more than paid racing is geoblocking.
- There are no bonus levels for horses within class 3-6 but they’ll still earn all their points for other traits, if applicable.
- The latest version of the leaderboard now shows all stables with >0 points. It updates every 30 minutes, it's a lot quicker and more responsive to different device widths.
Dollar Values and Point Valuation
- Addressing concerns about the value of spending dollars on new horses vs. racing, and the value of horses at their peak vs. now.
- The leaderboard points aren’t meant to be a direct 1:1 ratio of the amount of dollars the horse is worth relative to others. The value of a horse also comes from what you get from them engaging in the product.
- The points system is designed to be balanced for all stables, e.g.; points are not based on dollars spent or recent sales, there are opportunities to win races and breed horses that are worth more in the Legacy Leaderboard.
- Horses are not meant to be given a point value based on how useful they are in ZED RUN today.
- They are not meant to be given a point value based on their peak dollar value. That is not what the Legacy leaderboard is for, or how it is meant to be tuned.
- XP boosts were never communicated to be included -- but they can help stables earn higher points for their horse's level, by using them to level up.
- Breeding strategies and the points they contribute are a significant part of the rewards system, reflecting the ongoing engagement and strategic decisions of stable owners.
- For these reasons, and for fairness, we don’t plan to change anything on the leaderboard.
ZEDx Rewards
- All players will earn a reward chest based on their leaderboard position, containing racing and/or breeding horses and $ZED Token seasonal rewards. The exact contents will be revealed closer to the snapshot date.
- The majority of starting racers and breeding horses will be distributed to ZED RUN stable owners, ensuring a fair transition.
- Higher tiers will receive more substantial rewards, including more horses and resources to give players greater agency in the new game.
- 20 percent of the ZED Token supply will be allocated to these rewards. This is a significant amount and adds to the utility within ZEDx.
Transition and Trust
- We are working to reverse the narrative of 'classic' ZED by demonstrating our commitment through actions, not just words.
- Our goal is to create an engaging and dynamic experience in ZEDx, and we are continuously refining the rewards and points system based on community feedback to ensure it reflects the value of long-term engagement and support.
- We will be going over unclaimed horses in the future. We have a few different ideas that we are debating between, Iceberg Racing had a fun idea about a community vote, which we like, but we're still open to suggestions. Although our goal is obviously to have as few go unclaimed as possible.
- Future AMAs will cover Tokenomics, the game loop, spectator engagement and also what’s in the box.
